Why does the LG have a dual layer DV license in the first place? It doesnt need it at all. So that's a big drawback of even storing the videos as dual stream MKVs for the time being (although I have no reason to try to play non-DV MKV's directly on the LG.only DV files make sense).

Except the LG, it says it can't play this type of file, whereas it plays the single stream MKV fine, and the MP4 with dual stream DV.

Everything plays it just like the regular MKV from MakeMKV with a single stream, using the HDR10 video.

I tried using MKVToolNix to remux the two video streams from the MP4 into an MKV with the original TrueHD/Atmos track, which worked as expected. It's showing up in MKVToolNix with a different name than the original m2ts's second stream, but it's otherwise the same as far as I can tell. The entire process took me an hour to figure out, but once I did it, I sold my Xbox One X, because I'm now using my LG USB to play Dolby Vision MP4's! Hopefully this starts a discussion.

It sounds like its complicated, but it isn't. *Right now we are limited to only MP4 and AC3 audio. Mp4muxer -dv-profile 7 -input-file (baselayername.hevc1) -input-file (dvlayername.hevc2) -input-file (audio.ac3) -media-lang eng -output-file (nameofmovie).mp4 Run Dolby Vision MP4Muxer ( )ĭolbyVision MP4 Muxer only works in Command Prompt so you have to navigate to the corresponding folders where the files are and type Once you have HEVC1, HEVC2, and the Audio track. This is a hard line limitation- you need to use AC3!!!ģ. Audio track which you will have to convert to AC3.

HEVC 2 in 1080p (this is the dolby vision enhancement layer)Ĭ. Find the correct M2TS file and demux the following files:ī. I will be buying Gladiator this weekend to test out though.Ģ. I have only tested this with Black Panther since that's the only one I own. I made this thread in the hopes we can figure out a way to reconvert this into MKV. To the right click the + symbol above the arrow that is pointing upwards (this adds the audio job)Ĥ) Go back to the base tab at top, towars the bottom right you will see a workman with shovel, click on that to start. So apparently there's a method to backup UHD ISO's into MP4's that triggers Dolby Vision on an LG or Vizio television app via USB.

Get Hybrid which is a not at all user friendly encoder but supports just about everything.ġ) Click the folder\arrow picture in top right above Blu-ray/DVD input and point it at the mkv file.Ģ) In the centre set video to pass-through and audio to custom, in left hand side set container to mkv, click the generate button to auto select a folder output or manually pick.ģ) On audio tab, tick box for audio encoding options (this assumes TrueHD/Atmos is track 1)ĭRC = Film Standard (optional but if movie audio is too uneven enable this)

Third times the charm and this time I did a full test all the way through.

Yeah I should have tested BDtoAVCHD, I did load an atmos video in it but double checking it now it reads as 0 kbps on the audio so it cannot read those files properly. I'm buying an Xbox One X next year, so I won't be converting for life but would like to have some films ready for the family at Christmas.

Has anyone come across good software for reliable 4K mkv conversion? I've tried using the VLC player version but the output file is smaller than the source and still get the same error through the TV, please save me from having to pay £60!! I've installed far too many duds like, Wondershare video converter and others of a similar ilk (I think they're all owned by the same company, the website layouts are nearly identical, bar the software name). Can anyone recommend software that is capable of doing this? The only one I have seen work so far is DIMO Video Converter Ultimate but I really don't want to spend £60 on a license, even though the trial output looked perfect. but I have the space to accommodate for that. I've been scouring for software that can convert 4K mkv to 4K mp4, I'm aware the file size could double, triple, etc. The videos played just fine but there was no audio (I got the "audio data not supported" error) I think this because all the films I have are 7.1 sound, the 4K Planet Earth episodes I have are 5.1 and they play just fine through the TV. I decided to test out it's capabilities by trying some 4K films (all mkv format) I have on my external HDD USB. I recently purchased a Samsung UE49MU6400 UHD TV.
